Helvey's hallmark style is defined by her capture of the essence of human expression, prominently apparent in the Prizefighters and Metro Courts portfolios. Metro Courts propelled her onto the national scene with two winning entries in "American Photo" magazine's Readers Competition. The series has been exhibited in the Iowa Gallery of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.
More recently Helvey's eye for the digital format resulted in the documentation of Rural Avenues, an insider's contemplative and exquisite study of the bucolic Iowa landscape. The work was successfully launched in Cedar Rapids at Corner House Gallery and Mercy Medical Center.
In addition to meeting her ongoing demands as a portrait photographer shown here in Subjects, she is also pleased to preview her most recent portfolio, Magnolia.
Autumn Fields III was selected for inclusion in ONE LIFE: Stories Told Through Photography, a book published in conjunction with the photography competition organized through See.me.
